In late 2020, I started playing and creating music again. It definitely began in fits and starts, but the more time I spent with it, the more I realized how much I wanted music back in my life. This marked the beginning of a new chapter for me—after, well, 40 years away.
I experimented with a few different DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations, i.e., home studio software), and eventually settled on Ableton Intro. I just started exploring.
There are eight songs here. When I finally got around to producing them in 2024, I discovered that back in 2021, I had already written dozens of project files—each exploring different features of the program. That process sparked deeper experimentation, and the results are what you hear now.
When I first started, I was working on an old laptop with just enough power to run a DAW. I could write and play back songs, but I couldn’t properly produce them or use audio tracks extensively—doing so would cause the system to crash repeatedly.
As a result, I was left with many partially produced songs that couldn’t be completed at the time. Some of those early pieces, now finally finished, are included here
